We are SMG, the parent company of three small-medium, fast-growing agencies; Capture, Lobster and Threefold, who each have a unique specialism and an unrivalled client list. Across the group, we have a shared vision and mission to lead connected commerce marketing.

We are looking for a Conceptual Director to join SMG’s Creative Team on a 12 month fixed term contract (maternity cover) supporting all 3 agencies.

Some key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Leading creative team and coming up with brilliant ideas that will win with shoppers and deliver excellent design work (from launching the latest gourmet frozen chips, inspiring Adidas customers or helping Microsoft communicate better with fashion shoppers, ideation is at the core of this role).
  • Working on projects big and small, from in-store to digital to experiential, maintaining an excellent standard of execution and protecting the heart of the concept, ensuring the work consistently meets the needs of the client brief.
  • Managing a team of 5, some of those in our centralised creative studio, as well as our team of artworkers dedicated to one of our clients, the Co-op.
  • Managing our creative department P&L, you'll be responsible for our creative pricing and estimations, job & time tracking and internal reporting.

We’re looking for:

We are looking for an absolute all-rounder! This role would suit either a Conceptual Art Director who is looking for the next natural step into a more senior position, or a Senior Art Director who has mentored a team but is still very hands-on. 

You will have experience across shopper, retail, experiential and digital creative. You need to be able to use a Mac and scamp, and copywriting experience would be advantageous.     

  • Significant experience in an art direction role.
  • A portfolio of well-crafted, contemporary projects.
  • Coaching and development of a team.
  • Ability to deliver smart, simple, effective work quickly across the full spectrum of campaigns and brands.
  • Commercial outlook and a pragmatic mind.
