What is Boots Media Group?

Boots Media Group is a full-service advertising offering for its supplier brands, rooted in insights and first-party data. The group enables brands to deliver high-performing connected marketing campaigns to Boots UK customers, as well as maximise ROI on their advertising investment.

With over 1 billion web visits per year and a market-leading loyalty programme, we have a unique opportunity to build a market-leading digital advertising service for brands in the UK. By utilising 1st party customer data gathered through several pathways (.com, in-store, loyalty card and beyond), we will be able to offer a rare opportunity for brands to advertise to a highly segmented audience in proximity to the point of purchase.

The group is a partnership between Boots and our Threefold agency and is an incredibly exciting move as it is the first of its kind from any UK retailer.

Role overview

We’re searching for an experienced digital media specialist to lead a new digital media capability in our partnership with Boots.

Working with senior stakeholders across both agency and client, this person will drive the set-up, innovation, and performance of this new digital advertising ecosystem on Boots owned and paid channels.

We’re looking for someone with experience in one or more of these areas:

  • Digital campaign management
  • Programmatic trading
  • Data management
  • Multi-platform integrations and data analytics.

 As a Digital Media Specialist at SMG, you will:

  • Act as the face of the digital advertising services offering within the Boots Media Group, representing the business at key meetings with strategic partners (both prospective advertisers and media/data partners). 
  • Own the roadmap for the digital media suite, proactively managing the project from inception to beta-testing to launch. 
  • Act as the champion for the development of the suite’s DSP, including working alongside LiveRamp, Criteo, InfoSum (and others as needed) to build all functionality into the Boots.com website and beyond.
  • Determine the optimal routes for the integration and management of Boots' 1st party and 3rd party data (paid and advertiser owned) into the ecosystem, working alongside stakeholders in the Boots' insight & loyalty teams. 
  • Build clear and efficient campaign planning, management, and evaluation processes (alongside your counterparts in the implementation team) building a clear pathway to getting a campaign from A to B.
  • Contribute to wider SMG digital innovations and platform developments, as part of the Connect-R media team.

 As a Digital Media Specialist, we'd like you to bring:

  • Strong background in digital marketing and data analytics (3+ years’ experience).
  • Understanding of digital media and the wider marketplace (esp. across data & programmatic fields).
  • Experience of working within a large agency and/or working with large clients on key campaigns and projects, possessing a solution focused mind-set.
  • Understanding of data integrations across platforms and able to manage partnerships across a tech stack.
  • Possess strong influencing and interpersonal skills, confident communicating with senior client stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive and engaged working approach.
  • Dedicated team player, able to build relationships internally and externally.
  • Experience working with DSPs desirable, but not essential (The Trade Desk, Criteo, Citrus, DV360).
